Managing events today often feels like juggling too many moving parts, from registrations and logistics to networking and knowledge-sharing. Yet, despite all the effort that goes into organizing conferences, workshops, and meetings, most of what’s learned and shared tends to fade once the event ends.
That’s exactly the challenge that WeVent, a startup from the Global Startups NEA 2024 cohort, set out to solve. Omid Fatemi, its founder and CEO, shares how the idea came to mind.
“We’re building smart event management tools to make events more accessible, more stable, and more meaningful,” says Omid. “Our goal is to transform events from fleeting moments into lasting assets.”
Having attended countless events and conferences, the WeVent team saw two major problems firsthand:
- Event management is fragmented. Organizers rely on multiple disconnected tools to handle logistics, communication, and engagement.
- Knowledge disappears too quickly. Nearly 80% of insights and connections made during events are lost once the event concludes.
WeVent’s platform tackles both challenges head-on. By centralizing event planning, networking, and post-event insights, it empowers organizers to create experiences that live beyond the event itself, where valuable discussions, decisions, and connections can continue to grow.
For Omid, joining the Newcomer Entrepreneur Accelerator (NEA) Program at Global Startups was a key step in the journey.
“As a newcomer to Canada, I didn’t know exactly how to start,” he shares. “Through NEA, I got not only valuable workshops and lectures but also one-on-one coaching in sales, product, and marketing. That personalized guidance made all the difference.”
With the support of NEA and the vision of turning temporary experiences into lasting impact, WeVent is helping reshape how the world connects, learns, and grows in the very competitive market of event management platforms.
